Standing tall at 30 feet, with its grandeur accentuated by its east-facing orientation, the temple boasts a divine presence complemented by the nearby Bhargavi River. Adorned with intricate sculptures and motifs, the temple complex encompasses a Jagamohan temple, standing at 75 feet, along with a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Despite the dense foliage veiling the river and sea from view, the temple’s allure remains undiminished.

Legends about the temple’s founding have been passed down through the years; one of them describes how traders travelling across the oceans encountered divine assistance. Another tradition describes how the Goddess miraculously saved a merchant, inspiring the building of the nearby Lord Chandeswar temple. Devotees come from all around because of the mystique and veneration these stories bestow upon the temple.

The Goddess receives a variety of Prasads every day, such as coconut, ripe fruits, and the traditional mustard fish dish. Only thirty kilometres southeast of the holy city, the temple is reachable via the Jagannath Puri Railway Station. The temple is around ninety kilometres distant from the closest airport, Bhubaneswar, for travellers flying from there. Travellers are led by the heavenly presence of Goddess Harachandi as they travel through beautiful landscapes on their way to this holy sanctuary.
