The deity
The self-manifested lingam is worshipped as Harihara – a rare union of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.
Architecture
The towering deula, finely carved walls and dozens of smaller shrines make the complex a living museum of Kalinga architecture.
Festivals
Maha Shivaratri draws huge crowds of devotees, and the Rukuna Rath Yatra chariot festival takes place in spring.
Visitor tip
Only Hindus may enter the temple; other visitors can view it from a platform outside. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside.
